Monday is here and I’m already dreaming about the weekend, as are most I imagine. In a busy and buzzing city like Manchester, there is always something going on but that doesn’t mean it is easy to decide on what to do! If you’re planning your weekend activities I have just the ticket! The Milton Club’s Cocktail Masterclass!
I bagged myself an exclusive invite to one of their Cocktail Masterclasses along with fellow bloggers! The mere mention grabbed my attention and Dry January was basically over.. so it seemed to be a no-brainer.
I headed to the bar straight from work which was easy enough to find, the venue is near the Deansgate Metrolink stop and train station (near the Great Northern Warehouse). When I arrived, I was greeted by a set of grand double doors and a reception desk. I have heard a lot about The Milton Club and know it is known for it’s upmarket drinks and clientele, the venue is very exclusive and luxe (and comes with a price tag to match) – however you get what you pay for!
My first impression of the venue was great, I loved the look and feel of the place. The bar was the centerpiece placed in the middle of the room, behind the bar were luxe looking booths and a large DJ area sat at the left-hand side of the bar. The venue was filled with well presented and welcoming bartenders and servers getting ready for the busy night ahead.
I was seated next to the other bloggers at the bar who had already arrived (clearly I was just fashionably late), I spoke with the girls about their blogs etc. We were introduced to our bartender for the evening Ibrahim whom greeted us with a glass of prosecco and gave us a little history lesson about cocktails and the key ingredients which go into them.
Then came the hard decision, we had to choose a cocktail of the menu! With a variety of options/flavours placed in front of me in black & white is was near impossible choice to make! As a Prosecco lover, I decided to go for a Prosecco-based cocktail with a sweet taste from a combinations syrups.
The cocktail was delicious and is definitely something I would go for again! It was perfectly sweet without being too sickly and didn’t really taste of alcohol which is always dangerous.
Then the cocktail making was in our hands! We had to create the same cocktail using the correct measurements and ingredients, which was certainly not easy! My barmaid knowledge consisted of pouring/opening drinks at a festival.. not creating art in a glass. Despite my lack of skills I successfully made my cocktail which I thought was delicious! The other girls certainly ran circles around me even creating the perfect garnishes for their drinks.
We were then given a shot or two! I love shots especially when they come in the form of Mezcal or Tequila and I’m always open to trying something different. We were offered a ‘Slippery Nipple’ which I have never tried before, so I was excited to see what it tasted like and I was already a little tipsy who was I to refuse! I found out that a ‘Slippery Nipple’ was made up from half a shot of Sambuca with a layer of Irish Cream on top, I’ve never been a fan of milk/cream in drinks but it was too late to turn back now! I have to say though it wasn’t the best thing I have ever tried it definitely bettered my expectations, the distinctive taste of Sambuca hit my taste buds straight away (bringing back those memories of uni with it) but the smoothness and richness of the Irish cream matured the flavour and made it really indulgent.
Before we left, we were given some sweets and the offer to stay inside The Milton Club to continue with our night. But, due to other commitments my evening in The Milton Club had to come to an end, but, I will definitely be visiting The Milton Club again! It’s the perfect venue for an indulgent evening and before we left Ibrahim showed us a bottle of Louis XIII Remy, the most expensive bottle on the menu (and I’ve ever seen) which is priced at £400 per shot!
If you’re looking to plan where to go on your next night out then I would definitely recommend The Milton Club and their cocktail masterclass. It offers amazing cocktails, drinks and lust worthy decor and a variety of musical special guest and entertainment. You can keep up to date with any exciting events via their Website or their Facebook Page. Plus, all the information you need on becoming an exclusive member of the club to enjoy a variety of benefits!
I’d like to say a massive Thank you to Siobhan, Ibrahim and the whole team at The Milton Club for arranging a wonderful night for all of the bloggers involved!
